Hokies' external areas claim honors
Marketing, HokieVision and video earn acclaim

Blacksburg, Va. – Three entities of the Virginia Tech external relations unit have earned accolades from their national organizations for work during the 2015-16 academic year.

The marketing and promotions office was recognized with an honorable mention in the 2016 Martketing Team of the Year Award by the National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administration (NACMA). Tech was one of seven schools to win honorable mention. Three schools were also recognized as finalists for Team of the Year award. The 10 schools will be honored at the upcoming NACDA/NACMA Convention in June at the Hilton Anatole hotel in Dallas, Texas.

The HokieVision staff has been named a finalist for the 2016 Sports Video Group/NACDA College Sports Media Awards’ Outstanding Live Studio/Remote Hosted Production Award. Tech is recognized for the Signing Day Live show, a live show that focuses on football recruiting and Tech is one of five finalists for the award. The award will be presented at the Eighth-Annual College Sports Media Awards ceremony on June 2 at the SVG College Sports Summit held at the Omni Hotel at CNN Center in Atlanta, Georgia.

Earlier this spring, Virginia Tech’s Tom Booth was named the ACC Video Coordinator of the Year by the Collegiate Sports Video Association at the CSVA national conference in Cincinnati, Ohio. Booth served as the head of the football coaches video department for the past several years before transitioning into a new role as an assistant coordinator under new coach Justin Fuente and his staff. Over his career, he has provided video content on the video scoreboards at Lane Stadium and Cassell Coliseum, and from 2005-13, he directed video scoreboard production on football game days. He also has assisted all other sports with any audiovisual needs.
