Athletics to take part in 'Women's Weekend at Virginia Tech'
Coaches, administrators and student-athletes to take part in weekend events

BLACKSBURG – Members of the Virginia Tech Department of Athletics will take part in this year’s Women’s Weekend at Virginia Tech on July 17-19 in Blacksburg.

The weekend’s events are open to all women, including faculty, staff, students, alumnae and fans, giving all involved an enjoyable weekend to connect and celebrate with like-minded women.

Women’s golf head coach Carol Robertson will help kick off the weekend on Friday afternoon with a golf lesson on the Virginia Tech Golf Course. The department’s Executive Associate Athletics Director, Desiree Reed-Francois, will speak Saturday morning during a general session on “Virginia Tech Women Making an Impact.” In addition, there will be an athletics facilities tour given in the afternoon. Junior Lindsey Owens of the Virginia Tech volleyball team is also scheduled to serve as a student host during the event.

World-renowned Tech faculty members will also present, including University Distinguished Professor Nikki Giovanni on “Poetry is a Window to Discovery,” and Rosalyn Moran, assistant professor of the Virginia Tech Carilion Research Institute, presenting “What exactly is neuroplasticity and how do we know if we have it?”

The weekend will wrap up on Sunday with a brunch sponsored by Virginia Tech's Dr. Laura P. Sands at The Grove.
