BLACKSBURG – The Virginia Tech athletics department announced today that it has launched informational blogs under the umbrella “#HokieHuddle” on its website, hokiesports.com, for all 22 of the department’s varsity sports.
These #HokieHuddle blogs will provide Tech fans with behind-the-scenes looks at each individual program and the student-athletes in those programs, and they will focus on content that mainstream media outlets tend to ignore. The content will be presented in a variety of ways, including written stories, video packages, photo galleries, embedded Instagram posts and embedded tweets. These blogs will be updated periodically each week.
Fans can find #HokieHuddle for their favorite sports in three different ways:
• Simply go to www.hokiesports.com, click on the tab “sport” and then click on the sport that interests you. Then click on the “Multimedia” tab and click on “#HokieHuddle.”
• Or, type in www.hokiesports.com in the URL and then type in the following: /sport/huddle. For example, to read #HokieHuddle for baseball, one would type www.hokiesports.com/baseball/huddle.
• Or, go to www.hokiesports.com and click on the tab “sport” and then click on the sport that interests you. Scroll down, and below the main photo, there is a link that says, #HokieHuddle.
In late August, the department launched #HokieHuddle for football, which begins on Thursday and runs through Sunday of each game weekend. This blog, though, differs from the others in that it contains information related to events leading up to a game and provides content centered on the game itself.
The athletics department encourages Tech fans to check #HokieHuddle with regularity for content on all their favorite sports. Fans can provide feedback through each individual sport’s Twitter feed or Instagram account.
