BLACKSBURG – The Virginia Tech men’s tennis team completed the sweep on Friday, defeating Eastern Kentucky and James Madison with scores of 7-0 at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center.

The Hokies opened the day with the 7-0 sweep over Eastern Kentucky. Tech took the doubles point, with Abraham Asaba and Ryan Kros winning 6-2 on court three while Carlo Donato and Mitch Harper won it 6-3 on two.

Jason Kros, ranked 80th, gave the Hokies a 2-0 lead with with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Parth Aggarwal at two. George Cartledge followed up with a win at five, shutting out Josh Piunti, 6-0, 6-0.

Feliksas Sakalauskas secured the team win at six as he rolled past Juan Soria 6-1, 6-2. Donato gave the Hokies a 5-0 lead with the 6-3, 6-2 win on court four.

Harper, ranked 68th, kept the Hokies roll going, defeating Ramon van Flymen 6-3, 6-3 on one, and 97th-ranked Alex Ribeiro completed the sweep, defeating Gabriel Ruiz 6-4, 6-3 on court three.

In the second match of the day, the Hokies again got out ahead, winning the doubles point as Donato and Harper won on court two. Jason Kros and Ryan Kros paired-up on three to secure the doubles point with a 6-4 win.

Donato picked up his second win of the day as he defeated Kohler 6-0, 6-2 on court four. Abraham Asaba gave the Hokies a 3-0 lead with a 6-2, 6-2 decision at six over Tate Steinour.

Jason Kros secured the Hokies win on court one as he downed Paul Mendoza 6-2, 6-4.

Ribeiro took the match on court two, knocking off Damon Roberts 6-4, 6-2 while Chase Bernstine won at five with a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Theophile Lantiez.

Henrik Korsgaard wrapped up the sweep for the Hokies, holding off Arce 6-4, 7-6(2) at three.

The Hokies will return to the court next weekend, hosting St. Bonaventure and Davidson in a doubleheader on Saturday, Feb. 10.
