Tech advances to quarterfinals at ITA All-American

TULSA, Okla. – Virginia Tech’s men’s tennis duo of Mitch Harper and Henrik Korsgaard downed the nation’s 7th-ranked pair on Friday at the 2017 ITA Men’s Tennis All-American.
The Hokies duo, ranked 31st, secured the opening set 6-4 over Mississippi State’s Niclas Braun and Trevor Foshey. In the second set, the Bulldogs’ pair rallied to win it 6-3. Harper and Korsgaard fell behind 1-3 in the super tiebreak before powering back to score nine straight to take it 10-3.
Tech will return to the court on Saturday in the quarterfinals, facing Florida’s McClain Kessler and Duarte Vale. Kessler and Vale, like Harper and Korsgaard, also advanced through the qualifying rounds to make the main draw.
