Harper, Korsgaard advance to main draw at ITA All-American

TULSA Okla. – After a long rain delay, the Virginia Tech men’s tennis duo of Mitch Harper and Henrik Korsgaard secured the win in the final round of the qualifying doubles draw at the 2017 ITA Men’s Tennis All-American Championships in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Tech’s 31st-ranked tandem got off to a slow start, falling to Texas’ Colin Markes and Adrian Ortiz 3-6 in the opening set. The pair battled back in an exciting second set with the match tied at 6-6 to force the tiebreak which the Hokies held on to win it 7-5. The decision came down to a super tiebreak third which Harper and Korsgaard rolled to a 10-6 win.

The win puts the Hokies in the main draw, which begins Thursday, October 5.
