Hokies to compete in two events this weekend
Tech men's tennis set for Milwaukee Classic and Ivy Plus

BLACKSBURG – The Virginia Tech men’s tennis team will compete in two events this weekend, traveling to the Milwaukee Classic and the Princeton Ivy Plus Invitational.
Mitch Harper, ranked No. 122, will be taking the court at the Milwaukee Classic along with Alex Ribeiro and freshman Carlo Donato.
The 42nd Annual Milwaukee Classic will be held Sept. 22-23 with finals being played on the 24th at the UWM Panther Arena. All three days of competition will begin at 8 a.m. In addition to the Hokies, 12 other teams will participate including: DePaul University, Denver, Marquette, Michigan State, Navy, ODU, Arkansas, Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska and Wisconsin. The event this year will count as an ITA gold-level tournament. Winners of the MTC will earn wild cards into the ITA National Tournament which is set for Nov. 1-5.
The Ivy Plus will consist of four single draws of 16 players and four doubles draws of eight pairs. The 17 teams that will be sending players include: Baylor, Brown, Buffalo, Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth, Florida, Harvard, Monmouth, UNC Asheville, Penn, Penn State, Princeton, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia Tech and Yale.
Chase Bernstine, George Cartledge, Jason Kros, Ryan Kros, Feliksas Sakalauskas and Jack Tascher will compete for the Hokies in the Ivy Plus. Seeded 13th, Jason Kros will open the tournament for the Hokies as he faces Jackie Tang, who is seeded 12th and ranked 73rd in the ITA, of Columbia.
The doubles will begin on Friday at 9 a.m., while the start of singles will begin at 1 p.m. The doubles finals will occur Sunday at 8:30 a.m. while the singles will take place at 9:30 a.m.
