Hokies roll past Clemson 6-1

BLACKSBURG – The Virginia Tech men’s tennis team rolled past ACC foe Clemson 6-1 on Friday afternoon at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center.
Tech (8-9, 3-4 ACC) got out to the early lead over Clemson (8-10, 1-5 ACC) after taking the doubles point.
The Hokies faltered on court two, but Jai Corbett and Henrik Korsgaard paired up at one to defeat Sam Edwards and Daffra Sanon 6-4. Tech secured the point with Jason Kros and Freddy Mesmer winning 6-4 over Christian Harris and Brent Lett at three.
Mesmer put the Hokies on top 2-0 with a 6-3, 6-3 win against Harris on court six. Kros made the Hokies advntage 3-0 as he defeated Carlos Kelaidis, 6-3, 6-2 at five. Mitch Harper secured the Tech win, knocking off Sanon 6-4, 6-3 on court two.
Alexandre Ribeiro pushed the Hokies advantage to 5-0 at four where he downed Sam Edwards 7-5, 6-4. Korsgaard scored the final point for Tech winning on court three. After giving up the first set 6-4, the Hokies' freshman powered back to win the second 7-5. He took the tiebreak in the third 10-7.
Virginia Tech will return to the court on Sunday, April 2 when the Hokies travel to No. 35 Louisville for a noon match.
