THE HOKIES (0-2)
Virginia Tech is looking to pick up its first win on the young season as the Hokies dropped a pair last weekend during the ITA Kickoff. The Hokies’ Jai Corbett is coming off a win over a ranked opponent as he downed 43rd-ranked David Biosca last weekend in San Diego. Newcomer Henrik Korsgaard picked up a pair of wins in his first dual matches as a Hokie, defeating San Diego’s Joel Gamerov and ETSU’s Miguel Este. Mitch Harper split decisions during the opening weekend.
Korsgaard also paired up with teammate Jason Kros for a pair of wins last weekend in doubles as the two competed at three.
THE LONGHORNS (6-1)
Texas claimed the title last weekend during the ITA Kickoff event hosted by the Longhorns and will advance to the National Indoor Team Championships later this month. Freshman Christian Sigsgaard leads the Longhorns, tied for sixth in the nation.
Yuya Ito and Harrison Scott join the Sigsgaard in the rankings at 36th and 47th, respectively. Ito is also a freshman and is 15-7 overall this season while Scott has tallied a 14-3 overall mark and 4-0 in duals. Ito and Scott are also ranked as a tandem in doubles at 38th.
The Longhorn’s duo of Rodrigo Bertran and Leonardo Telles come in at 44th in the ITA.
