ETSU outlasts Hokies, 4-3
Tech wins three singles matches

LOS ANGELES – The Virginia Tech men’s tennis team faltered against ETSU, 4-3 on Sunday morning in the ITA Kickoff Weekend at Marks Stadium in Los Angeles, Calif.
Henrik Korsgaard and Jason Kros got the Hokies (0-2) off to a solid start, winning the No. 3 doubles match 6-1 over Wenceslao Albin and Juan Lugo, but the Bucs won the other two to claim the point and take a 1-0 lead heading into singles.
The Bucs went on top 2-0 with a win at five, but Korsgaard got the Hokies on the board on court four where he defeated Miguel Este 6-3, 6-3. Tech evened it up at 2-2 with Jai Corbett’s win at one. Corbett dropped the first set 6-1, but came back to knock off 43rd-ranked David Biosca with scores of 6-3 in the second and third sets.
Kros put the Hokies up 3-2 in the match with a win at six, defeating Albin 6-4, 4-6, 6-4. ETSU knotted it back up on court two with the Bucs’ 65th-ranked Diego Nunez holding off Alexandre Ribeiro 6-3, 4-6, 6-3. The Bucs clinched the match at three with Robert Herrera rallying to defeat Mitch Harper 4-6, 7-5, 6-3.
The Hokies will be back on the court Saturday, Feb. 4 at Texas.
