Korsgaard wins flight at Wake Forest Invitational

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Freshman Henrik Korsgaard closed out the fall season for the Virginia Tech men’s tennis team, winning the B2 singles draw on Sunday at the Wake Forest Invitational in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

The Tech newcomer defeated Campbell’s Nicolas Rakitin 6-1, 6-1 to take the flight title. Korsgaard’s teammate claimed third place in the same flight as Jason Kros battled to three with Asheville’s Josh Swindler. After giving up the first set 3-6, Kros came back to win the second 7-5. The third set was back and forth and was tied at 6-6 before Kros secured it in the tiebreak 7-3.

Korsgaard and Kros also had a good day in doubles with the duo winning the backdraw of their flight. The Tech pair defeated Liberty’s duo of Chase Burton and Vince Salas 7-5.

Tech will be back on the court in January for the spring duals season.
