Hokies win five on final day of Seahawk Fall Invite

WILMINGTON, N.C. – The Virginia Tech men’s tennis team claimed wins in all singles and doubles on Sunday during the final day of the Seahawk Fall Invitational at the UNCW Tennis Courts.

George Cartledge knocked off USC Upstate’s Felix Ewers 6-2, 6-2 while Freddy Mesmer defeated Fernando Bernardes of Upstate 6-3, 6-0. Jason Kros rounded out the singles wins for the Hokies with a 6-3, 6-2 decision over USCU’s Ignacio Garrido.

Tech also had a pair of wins in doubles as Cartledge and Kros paired up for a 6-1 win over Boston College’s Jeffrey Melvin and Sean Mullins.

Mesmer teamed up with UNCW’s Marshall Waren as the duo took down BC’s pair of Peter Campana and Alexander Chieffalo 6-2.

The Hokies will wrap up the fall slate Nov. 11-13 at the Wake Forest Invitational.
