TULSA, Okla. – The Virginia Tech men’s tennis team wrapped up the second day of the ITA Men’s All-American on Sunday at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Mitch Harper fell in the round of 64 to Middle Tennessee’s Ayed Zatar Cordero who was seeded ninth in the draw. Harper fell 6-4 in the opening set but rallied to roll to a 6-1 win in the second. Cordero battled back to win the third 6-2.
Newcomer Alexandre Ribeiro faltered to North Florida’s 17th-seeded Jefta Kecic in the round of 6-4 as the Osprey player won it 7-5, 6-3.
The Hokies will be back on the court Monday for the qualifying doubles where Henrik Korsgaard and Ribeiro will pair up to take on Memphis’ duo of Ryan Peniston and Andrew Watson. Harper will pair up with Jai Corbett to face Santiago Cevallos and Milen Ianakiev of San Diego State.
