Monteiro falls in semifinals of National Indoor Championships

FLUSHING, N.Y. – Virginia Tech men’s tennis senior Joao Monteiro’s run in the 2015 ITA/USTA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championship came to an end on Saturday in the semifinal round at the Billie Jean King Tennis Center in Flushing, New York.

Monteiro, ranked 70th in the preseason singles poll, faced off against Tulane’s 10th-ranked and third-seeded Dominik Koepfer. The Green Wave’s player secured the win in the semifinal match with straight-set scores of 6-4, 6-4.

All of the Hokies will be back on the court in January when they open dual play on the 16th at Alabama.
