BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech junior Andreas Bjerrehus is set to open the first round of the 2015 NCAA Men’s Singles Championship on Wednesday, May 20 at 3 p.m. EST at the Hurd Tennis Center in Waco, Texas.
Bjerrehus, ranked 43rd, will face Ohio State’s 50th-ranked Chris Diaz in the opening round of the event.
The Tech player has tallied a 25-11 overall record this season, including a 17-7 mark in dual play, playing primarily in the No. 2. Bjerrehus has recorded wins over then-ranked No. 27, No. 8 and No. 24 players this season.
Diaz is also 25-11 overall this season and has a 17-8 record in duals, playing primarily in the No. 2. He went 10-0 in the Big Ten this season.
This is Bjerrehus’ first trip to the singles event. He joins a list of 14 Hokies who have represented Tech in the field.
