BLACKSBURG – The Virginia Tech men’s tennis team is seeded 15th and will host the opening rounds of the 2015 NCAA Men’s Tennis Championship, May 8-9 at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center in Blacksburg, Virginia.
"We are excited to be hosting the NCAA regional site this year," said head coach Jim Thompson. "This is one of the goals we have been working toward this season and it's nice to see the guys' hard work pay off and be recognized by the committee for what we have accomplished this season."
The Hokies (19-4), ranked 14th in the ITA, will face SoCon champion ETSU (17-7) in the opening round while Mountain West champion Boise State is set to face American Athletic Conference champion No. 19 South Florida (21-6) on the first day of competition.
This year marks the Hokies ninth consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament and the first time that Tech has hosted since 2000.
The Bucs are also making their ninth straight trip to the NCAAs. Boise State has won the past four MW titles to earn the conference’s automatic bid each season while USF made the Sweet 16 last season and is making the program’s 12th appearance in the NCAAs.
More information, including match times and ticket prices, about the opening rounds will be released in the next week on hokiesports.com.
