Tech set for UVA Fall Classic
Nicoud, Corbett, Ribas and Cartledge to represent the Hokies
Virginia Tech Men's Tennis Full Draws

BLACKSBURG, Va. – Members of the Virginia Tech men’s tennis team will make the short trip to Charlottesville, Virginia this weekend to compete in the 2014 UVA Fall Classic, Oct. 3-5 at the Snyder Tennis Center.

Florian Nicoud, Jai Corbett, Rafael Ribas and George Cartledge will represent the Hokies at the weekend event.

Virginia Tech will be joined by host-team UVA as well as players from Bucknell, The Citadel, Cornell, Davidson, East Tennessee State, George Mason, George Washington, James Madison, Liberty, Norfolk State, Old Dominion, Princeton, Radford, UMBC, VCU and William & Mary.

Corbett is in the blue draw singles and will face GMU’s Tanner Baine in the opening round while Nicoud has a bye in the opening round of the white singles. Cartledge is slated to face Cornell’s Chris Vrabel in the black singles and Ribas will also play a Cornell representative in Jason Luu.

In doubles matches, Corbett and Nicoud will team up in the orange draw to play ODU’s Michael Weindl and Darragh Glavin. Cartledge and Ribas will take on UMBC’s Justin Lansinger and Kevin Hsieh.

The tournament consists of six 16-player singles draws and eight-team doubles draws. All matches at the tournament will be played with no-ad scoring, with doubles consisting of an eight-game pro set and singles played in a best-of-three sets format. Friday's play begins at 9 a.m. and will feature two rounds of doubles, followed by one round of singles. Saturday's action starts at 9 a.m. with the final round of doubles, followed by two rounds of singles. The final round of singles will be on Sunday, beginning at 9 a.m.
