TULSA, Okla. – Virginia Tech junior Andreas Bjerrehus picked up his second win of the tournament to move in to the final round of the qualifying draw at the 2014 ITA Men’s Tennis All-American Championships at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
Bjerrehus squared off against a fellow ACC representative at the event, taking on NC State’s 99th-ranked Robbie Mudge. Tech’s 58th-ranked Bjerrehus claimed the first set with a score of 6-4, but Mudge came back to hold off Bjerrehus in the second, 7-5 to force the third.
In the final set, Bjerrhus came back strong to take the set 6-4.
Bjerrehus will be back on the court on Wednesday to play in the final round of the qualifying draw. Players are competing for the opportunity to move in to the main draw, which begins on Thursday. The Hokies’ 14th-ranked Amerigo Contini is set to take the court on Thursday in singles and doubles with Bjerrehus.
