TULSA, Okla. – Junior Andreas Bjerrehus advanced to the second round of the qualifying singles on Monday at the 2014 ITA Men’s Tennis All-American Championships at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Tech's 58th-ranked Andreas Bjerrehus defeated University of South Florida's Oliver Pramming in a three-set back-and-forth match. After holding on to win the opening set 7-6(4), Bjerrehus fell in the second set 6-4. The Tech junior came back strong in the third set to claim the win 6-3. Bjerrehus moves on to face N.C. State's Robbie Mudge in the next round on Tuesday.
Joao Monteiro fell to Duke's 59th-ranked Bruno Semenzato during the opening round, 6-2, 6-3. In the consolation draw, Monteiro faltered to San Diego’s 121st-ranked Uros Petronijevic, 6-3, 6-3.
Bjerrehus will be back on the court Tuesday morning at 8 a.m. CT.
