BLACKSBURG. Va. – The Virginia Tech men’s tennis team will be represented by a trio of juniors at the ITA All-American Championship with Andreas Bjerrehus and Joao Monteiro beginning competition on Monday in the qualifying singles draw at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Bjerrehus will team up with Amerigo Contini in the main draw doubles while Contini has qualified for the main draw singles both of which will begin on Thursday.
Bjerrehus enter the tournament ranked 58th in the singles standings. Last weekend Bjerrehus finished third in the Blue Draw at the UVA Ranked+1. Monteiro claimed his flight title last weekend at the Ivy Plus event in Princeton, New Jersey.
Contini is ranked 14th in the ITA singles standings and finished third in the Orange Draw at last weekend’s UVA Ranked+1 event.
Bjerrehus and Contini are tabbed 17th in the doubles standings. The pair claimed the flight title in doubles at the UVA tournament last weekend.
Monteiro and Bjerrehus will begin play on Monday in the qualifying singles in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
