CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Juniors Andreas Bjerrehus and Amerigo Contini continued their winning ways in doubles, claiming the Orange Draw doubles title for the Virginia Tech men’s tennis team on Saturday at the Snyder Tennis Center in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Tech’s 17th-ranked pair defeated host team UVA’s duo of Henrick Wiersholm and Thai-Son Kwiatkowski with a score of 8-4 to take the top seeded doubles bracket at the event.

In singles, Contini, ranked 14th nationally, claimed a win over Louisville’s Chris Simich in straight sets with scores of 6-0, 6-3. In the semifinals of the Orange Draw, UVA’s 74th-ranked Mac Styslinger outlasted Contini in three sets, 6-7, 6-1, 6-0.

Tech’s 58th-ranked Bjerrehus also picked up a win in the Blue Draw singles, rallying back to defeat Wiersholm. After dropping the first set 7-6, Bjerrehus took the next two, 6-3, 6-4. Louisville’s 110th ranked Sebastian Stiefelmeyer picked up the win over Bjerrehus in the semifinals, 6-3, 6-2.

Aaron Gomez had a win for the Hokies in the Orange Draw as well, defeating Virginia’s Luca Crointelli, 7-5, 3-6, 6-2. The Tech junior fell to Louisville’s Albert Wagner, 6-3, 6-2 in the semis.

Gomez and Contini are set to face each other in the third place bracket of the Orange Draw while Bjerrehus will play ODU’s Carlos Lopez Villa in the third place bracket of the Blue Draw.

Finals will begin on Sunday at 10 a.m.
