ATHENS, Ga. – The Virginia Tech men’s tennis team wrapped up competition early on the second day of the 47th Annual Southern Intercollegiates hosted by the University of Georgia at the Dan Magill Tennis Center in Athens, Georgia.
Junior Aaron Gomez claimed a win in the second round of the Division 2 singles flight. Gomez downed Vanderbilt’s Ryan Smith in straight sets with scores of 6-2, 7-5.
In doubles, Jai Corbett and Florian Nicoud squared off against sixth-seeded Andrew Dromsky and Igor Smelyaski of Tennessee. The Hokie duo fell to the Vols’ pair, 8-5.
Due to rain in Athens the second day of competition was shortened with just one round of Division 2 singles played. All consolation matches were cancelled.
Play will resume on Sunday at 8 a.m.

Will Neuner (FAU) def. George Cartledge (VT) 6-0, 6-4
Division 1 Doubles
