The Hokies claimed a hard-fought 4-3 win later in the week against No. 23 Wake Forest. The deciding point came down to Contini’s match against 34th-ranked Romain Bogaerts. Contini overcame a 4-1 deficit in the opening set to win, 6-4. Bogaerts then grabbed the second set, 7-5, before Contini used a late break to take the final set, 7-5, securing the team win.

In the Hokies’ final match of the week, Contini defeated No. 52 Austin Powell of NC State. Falling 7-6 (7-5) in the opening set, Contini came back strong to take the next two 6-3, 6-1.
