No. 41 Hokies kick off ACC play at Boston College
Tech heads to Chestnut Hill, Mass. for a conference match

BLACKSBURG, Va. – The 41st-ranked Virginia Tech men’s tennis travels to Chestnut Hill, Mass. this weekend to take on Boston College at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 15 at the Dedham Health & Athletic Complex.

Saturday’s match will be the Hokies’ first match in ACC play. The Eagles enter the match with a 0-1 mark in conference play after losing to Virginia 7-0 in their second match of the season.

The Hokies (4-2) are led by nationally-ranked sophomores Andreas Bjerrehus and Amerigo Contini. In the latest ITA national rankings, Contini is ranked 38th and Bjerrehus is ranked 94th. So far this season, Contini is 4-2 in No. 1 singles and Bjerrehus is 3-2 in No. 2 singles. Junior Hunter Koontz has posted the best mark for Tech with a 5-1 record in No. 3 singles.

Last weekend, the Hokies earned their fourth win of the season, defeating Coastal Carolina 7-0 at home.

The Eagles (2-4) are coming off of a doubleheader at Princeton where they went 0-2 against Monmouth and Princeton. Boston College began the season with losses at Georgetown and at No. 1 Virginia before sweeping a home doubleheader against Hartford and Southern New Hampshire.

Virginia Tech and Boston College met twice in dual matches last season. The Hokies won 7-0 in the regular season before defeating the Eagles 4-0 in the opening round of the ACC Championship.

The Hokies return to the court with a non-conference match at Louisville on Friday, Feb. 21 at 5 p.m.
