CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Virginia Tech men’s tennis team wrapped up the fall tournament part of the schedule over the weekend at the College of Charleston Last Chance Fall Invitational in Charleston, S.C.
Freshman Florian Nicoud claimed a singles win on the final day of competition, battling past the host team’s Charlie Ghirskey in three sets. After winning the first set 6-0, Nicoud fell in the second set 6-2. In the final set, the Tech player held on for the 10-8 win.
The Hokies’ freshman Jai Corbett also battled in a three set match against CofC’s Crescente Lesser. Corbett took the first set 6-3, but the Cougars’ Lesser came back to win the next two 6-2, 10-8.
Virginia Tech will be back on the court on January 19 when the Hokies host Yale and Davidson in a doubleheader at Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center.
