FLUSHING, N.Y. – Virginia Tech’s 17th-ranked doubles team of Amerigo Contini and Andreas Bjerrehus fell to UCLA’s third-seeded team at the ITA Indoor National Championships at the Billie Jean King Tennis Center in Flushing, N.Y.
Contini and Bjerrehus battled UCLA’s Marcos Giron and Mackenzie McDonald in the consolation draw of the doubles bracket. The two teams went back and forth in the match and were tied at 7-7, but the Bruins secured the tiebreaker, winning 8-7(5).
The Hokies wrap up fall tournament play and will return to action in January for dual season, beginning with a double-header on the 19th when Tech hosts Yale and Davidson.
