Tech falls to top-seeded pair at ITA National Championships
Contini and Bjerrehus will continue play on Friday in Flushing, N.Y.
FLUSHING, N.Y. – Virginia Tech’s 17th-ranked doubles pair of Amerigo Contini and Andreas Bjerrehus wrapped up the first day of competition at the ITA National Indoor Championships on Thursday, falling to the top-seeded team at the Billie Jean King Tennis Center in Flushing, N.Y.
Contini and Bjerrehus fell to Tennessee’s No. 1 ranked and the top-seeded pair of Mikelis Libietis and Hunter Reese in the national event with a score of 8-1.
The Hokies will continue competition at the ITA national event on Friday morning in the consolation draw and await their opponent once the bracket is finalized.
