BLACKSBURG, Va. – Five members of the Virginia Tech men’s tennis team will represent the Hokies this weekend at the UVA Fall Classic, Oct. 4-6 at the Snyder Tennis Center in Charlottesville, Va. Competition will begin at 9 a.m. each day.
Representing the Hokies on the weekend are Jai Corbett, Aaron Gomez, Nic Wilson, Florian Nicoud and Rafael Ribas.
NIcoud was picked as the No. 2 seed in the gold singles draw and is set to play Conor Moran of George Mason in the first round. Corbett will compete in the blue draw and will face Radford’s Nick Sayer in the opening round. In the black draw, Wilson will square off against Matt Daly of College of Charleston while Ribas is slated to face Liberty’s Jorge Azuero to open the tournament.
In doubles, Nicoud and Corbett are paired up in the blue draw and will play George Mason’s Jimmy Lange and Joe Hill. Wilson and Ribas will face William & Mary’s duo of John Banks and Ben Hoogland.
The Tournament features seven singles flights and seven doubles flights. Tech joins host team Virginia, along with 19 other schools that have players competing in this year’s event. Binghamton, Bucknell, College of Charleston, Coastal Carolina, Cornell, East Tennessee State, George Mason, George Washington, James Madison, Liberty, Longwood, Norfolk State, Old Dominion, Penn State, Princeton, Radford, VCU, Wake Forest and William & Mary will all send representatives to the event.
