Monteiro advances at ITA All-American
Tech sophomore continues play in Tulsa on Sunday
TULSA, Okla. – Sophomore Joao Monteiro advanced to the next round of the prequalifying draw on Saturday at the 2013 ITA Men’s Tennis All-American at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Okla.
Monteiro squared off against Illinois State’s Muddappa Appanaevanda on Saturday on the opening day of the event. The Hokies’ player downed Appanaevanda in straight sets with scores of 6-1, 6-3.
Monteiro will face the winner of Francisco Colunga (Texas A&M) versus Eric Schnurrenberger (Notre Dame) in the next round on Sunday at 5 p.m.
