CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - The Virginia Tech men’s tennis team wrapped up the UVA Ranked+1 on Sunday afternoon at the Snyder Tennis Center in Charlottesville, Va.
In the white singles flight finals, the Hokies’ 43rd-ranked Amerigo Contini battled against UNC’s fifth-ranked newcomer Ronnie Schneider. The Carolina player took the first set 6-2, but Contini came back to claim the second set 6-4. In the final set Schneider secured the match with a 6-3 win.
Tech’s 66th-ranked Andreas Bjerrehus took his flight title after UVA’s Luca Corinteli had to retire due to injury.
The Hokies will be back on the court on Saturday, Sept. 28 when they kick-off the opening rounds of the ITA All-American Championships.
