BLACKSBURG, Va. – The 52nd-ranked Virginia Tech men’s tennis team will conclude the 2013 regular season on the road, traveling through Florida to face No. 55 Miami on Friday, April 19 for a 2 p.m. match in Coral Gables. Tech will make the trip to No. 30 Florida State on Sunday, April 21 for a noon match in Tallahassee.

Virginia Tech (12-8, 4-4 ACC) is coming off a split last weekend, defeating Georgia Tech, 6-1 before being edged by No. 25 Clemson, 4-3. The Hokies’ freshman Amerigo Contini is currently ranked 52nd in the ITA standings and picked up a big win last weekend, defeating 24th-ranked Yannick Maden of Clemson. Contini has posted a 13-5 record in duals this season.

Fellow freshman Andreas Bjerrehus holds an ITA ranking of 98th in the singles standings with a 13-6 record in duals. The two have teamed up in doubles and are ranked 22nd in the doubles with a 13-5 record in the No. 1.

Miami (13-10, 2-6 ACC) fell to North Carolina, 5-2 and Duke, 7-0 last weekend. The Hurricanes are led this season by Wilfredo Gonzalez has posted a record of 15-7 in duals this season and is 10-0 in Coral Gables. Gabriel Flores and William Albanese have tallied 13 dual wins in singles each this season.

Florida State (17-7, 4-4 ACC) split last weekend, falling to Duke 4-3 before picking up a 5-2 win against North Carolina. Dominic Cotrone is 15-8 in duals for the Seminoles, including 11-7 in the No. 1 and is ranked 95th in the ITA standings. Benjamin Lock is 14-9, playing primarily in the No. 2 and 3. Cotrone has also teamed up with Blake Davis this season in doubles with the duo ranked 42nd and are 10-2.

Following the weekend, the Hokies will find out their seeding for the 2013 ACC Men’s Tennis Championship. The tournament will be April 25-28 in Cary, N.C.
