No. 55 Hokies on the road for a pair of ACC matches
Men's tennis will face No. 36 NC State on Friday and No. 25 Wake Forest on Sunday

BLACKSBURG, Va. – The 55th-ranked Virginia Tech men’s tennis team will travel to North Carolina this weekend for a pair of matches. The Hokies will face 36th-ranked North Carolina State on Friday, at 4 p.m. before traveling to 25th-ranked Wake Forest on Sunday for a 1 p.m. match.

Tech (10-6, 2-2 ACC) is coming off a close 4-3 lost to No. 30 VCU last weekend. The Hokies dropped the doubles point, but came back to tie it up 3-3 in singles matches with wins from Hunter Koontz, Trpimir Kujundzic and Joao Monteiro. VCU held on to secure the team win in the final match.

The Hokies have two players ranked in the ITA singles standings as Amerigo Contini is 55th and Andreas Bjerrehus is 81st. The pair is also ranked in doubles at 20th with a 12-2 mark on the season in the No. 1.

NC State (12-6, 5-1 ACC) defeated Miami 5-2 the last time out. The Wolfpack claimed the doubles point and won four of the six singles matches. Austin Powell holds an 11-7 singles mark while Beck Bond is 11-3. Thomas Weigel has a 10-6 mark in duals.

In doubles, the Wolfpack’s Dave Thomson and Sean Weber have teamed up this season and hold a 12-3 record in the No. 1. The duo is ranked 16th in the ITA standings.

Wake Forest (14-5, 3-1 ACC) downed Miami, 6-1 in the team’s last match. The Demon Deacons swept the doubles matches and won five of the singles. Amogh Prabhakar is ranked 60th in the ITA singles standings and is 14-4 in duals, playing primarily in the No. 2. David Hopkins is 6-9 in the No. 1. Danny Kreyman and Jon Ho hold 12-7 marks while Adam Lee is 15-2.

Hopkins and Prabhakar have teamed up in doubles this season and are 77th in the ITA. The pair has a 10-6 record in the No. 1.

The Hokies will return to Blacksburg for their home finale next weekend, hosting Georgia Tech on Friday. On Sunday, Tech will face Clemson on Senior Day.
