BLACKSBURG, Va. – The 56th-ranked Virginia Tech men’s tennis team will be back on the court on Tuesday, March 5 when the Hokies host James Madison. Match time is set for 2 p.m. at Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center.

The Hokies (6-1) are coming off a close 4-3 loss to #42 Louisville. Tech swept the doubles matches, but was edged in singles play as the Cardinals rallied for four wins. The Hokies got points in the No. 2 singles and the No. 4 with Andreas Bjerrehus and Lucas Oliveira winning, respectively.

Bjerrehus and fellow freshman Amerigo Contini have moved up to eighth in the ITA doubles standings. The pair holds a 7-0 record in the No. 1 this spring season and have posted a 12-4 overall record. Both players are also ranked in the singles standings with Contini at 68th with a record of 6-1, including a 4-0 mark in the No. 2. Bjerrehus is 74th and has a 7-1 record and is 4-1 in the No. 1. Oliveira has tallied a 6-2 record in singles this season with time in the No. 2, 3 and 4 matches.

JMU (2-4) picked up a 5-2 win over New Jersey Institute of Technology the last time out, winning two of the three doubles matches to secure the point. The Dukes followed that with four wins in singles. Ryan Pool leads JMU on the season with a 4-2 record in the No. 1. He has posted an overall record of 15-4 with an 11-2 mark in tournament play. Pool has teamed up with Robert Stirling in doubles with the duo holding a 12-3 overall record on the season.

Following the match against JMU, Virginia Tech will play Old Dominion in a neutral site match for the Hill City Cup on Monday, March 11 at the Boonsboro Country Club in Lynchburg, Va.
