Virginia Tech returns home to host Coastal Carolina
The 46th ranked Hokies host the Chanticleers at 11 a.m. Saturday

BLACKSBURG, Va. – The 46th-ranked Virginia Tech men’s tennis team returns to Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center to host Coastal Carolina at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 2.

The Hokies (2-2) return home after opening their 2013 slate at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center two weeks ago. After picking up a pair of wins during opening weekend, the Hokies competed at the ITA Kickoff Weekend, falling to two ranked opponents in closed 4-3 matches.

Tech is led by a pair of freshmen in Andreas Bjerrehus and Amerigo Contini who both hold national singles rankings with Bjerrehus at 29th and Contini at 56th. Bjerrehus has tallied a 3-1 record this spring in the No. 1 singles while Contini is 3-0 at the No. 2. The pair holds a national ranking of 15th in doubles and are 3-0 in the No. 1 on the season. Senior Lucas Oliveira has also started out strong for the Hokies with a 2-1 record in the No. 4 singles and is 3-1 overall.

The Chanticleers (1-0) picked up a 6-1 win in their opening match, defeating Mercer. Coastal will face UNC Greensboro on Friday before making the trip to Blacksburg for Saturday’s match. The Chanticleers were picked to finish second in the Big South preseason poll.

Saturday’s match begins a six-match home stand for the Hokies who will next face Penn State on Feb. 10 at 1 p.m.
