Hokies record wins on first day of Jim Russell Invitational
Marko Lovrinovic claims victories in singles and doubles

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Sophomore Marko Lovrinovic secured wins in singles and doubles on Friday during the opening day of the Jim Russell Invitational in Chapel Hill, N.C.

Lovrinovic battled East Carolina’s John Schmidt to three sets in singles. After falling 6-4 in the opening set, Lovrinovic came back to secure the match with scores of 6-1, 7-5 in the second and third.

In doubles, Lovrinovic paired up with teammate Lucas Oliveira for a win over North Carolina’s duo of James Coxe and Stuart DePaolo, 9-8(4).

The tournament will continue on Saturday at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center.

Marko Lovrinovic (VT) def. John Schmidt (ECU) 4-6, 6-1, 7-5
Joran Vliegen (ECU) def. Lucas Oliveira (VT) 6-3, 3-6, 6-3

Doubles
Lovrinovic/Oliveira (VT) def. James Coxe/Stuart DePaolo (UNC) 9-8(4)
