BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Virginia Tech men’s tennis team will face another tough schedule this season, playing 14 teams that appeared in the final ITA poll last season. Tech is coming off its sixth consecutive trip to the NCAA Championships and finished last season with an 11-12 overall record, including 7-4 in the ACC.

The Hokies have a young squad for the 2012-13 campaign with just two seniors, three sophomores and three freshmen.

Tech has a busy fall slate with eight tournaments. The Hokies will kick off the season, Sept. 7-10 at the Southern Intercollegiates in Athens, Ga. followed by the Nike Fab Four event in Cary, N.C., Sept. 14-16.

September 21-23 will have the team splitting time between the UVA Ranked+1 and the HEB Baylor Intercollegiate. The Hokies will round out the September schedule with a trip to the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla.

Virginia Tech will travel to Charlottesville, Va. for the UVA Fall Invite, Oct. 5-7 and will return to UVA on Oct. 18-22 for the ITA Atlantic Regionals. The Hokies will wrap up the fall slate, Nov. 2-4 at the Jim Russell Invitational in Chapel Hill, N.C.

The dual portion of the schedule will begin on Jan. 19 when the Hokies host College of Charleston and Longwood in a doubleheader at Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center.

Tech will travel to Durham, N.C. for the ITA Kick-Off Weekend, Jan. 25-26. The Hokies will square off against Northwestern on the first day and will play either host team Duke or Middle Tennessee on the second day of competition.

Beginning with Coastal Carolina on Feb. 2 the Hokies return home for six straight matches including Penn State (Feb. 10), St. Bonaventure (Feb. 15), Michigan State (Feb. 17), Louisville (Feb. 24) and James Madison (Mar. 5).

The Hokies will break up their home stand with a neutral site match against Old Dominion on March 11. The match will be played at the Boonsboro Country Club in Lynchburg, Va.

On March 17, Tech will open ACC play with a home match against Boston College. The team will remain at home to host North Carolina (March 22) and Duke (March 24). In addition, Tech will host Georgia Tech on April 12 and will wrap up the home slate on April 14 against Clemson.

Tech will be tested with road matches at rival Virginia (March 28), VCU (March 30), NC State (April 5) and Wake Forest (April 7). The Hokies will conclude the regular season in Florida, traveling to Miami (April 19) and Florida State (April 21).

The ACC Championship is slated for April 25-28 in Cary, N.C.
