Tech was selected as the No. 3 team and will face No. 2 Northwestern. No. 1 and host team Duke will play No. 4 Middle Tennessee State. The two winning teams will face each other on the second day of competition while the other two teams will meet in a consolation match.

Duke finished the 2012 campaign ranked eighth in the ITA standings. Northwestern was 42nd while Virginia Tech finished 45th overall. MTSU was 46th in the final ITA rankings of the season.

There are 15 sites selected to compete in the opening weekend. The 15 schools that win both matches at these events will be invited to play in the Feb. 15-18 ITA National Team Indoor Championship hosted by the University of Washington.
