GREENSBORO, N.C. – Virginia Tech senior Corrado Degl' Incerti Tocci has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Week.
The Reggio Emilia, Italy, native scored a pair of wins in ACC singles play and teamed with Luka Somen for an upset victory over the nation’s 12th-ranked doubles team on Sunday.
Tocci had a critical 7-5, 6-1 win in the Hokies’ match against No. 39 Maryland as the Hokies held off the Terps for a 4-3 win. He continued his singles success into Sunday’s match against No. 3 Virginia, claiming a 6-3, 6-4 win over Julen Uriguen. Tocci also paired up with partner Somen for the upset win of No. 12- ranked Drew Courtney and Jarmere Jenkins in No. 1 doubles.
Tocci and the Hokies will be back on the court on Saturday, March 3, hosting Minnesota in a noon match at Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center.
