Men's Tennis travels to northeast for a pair of matches
The Hokies will play Harvard and open the ACC slate at BC

BLACKSBURG, Va. – The No. 31 Virginia Tech men’s tennis team will travel to the Boston area for a pair of matches beginning with No. 60 Harvard on Saturday, Feb. 11 at 2 p.m. followed by the ACC opener against Boston College on Sunday, Feb. 12 at 1:30 p.m.

Virginia Tech (2-1, 0-0 ACC) picked up a 6-1 win over Penn State the last time out. No. 58 Luka Somen, No. 71 Lucas Oliveira, Patrick Daciek, Mauricio Antun and Trpimir Kujundzic all secured singles wins for the Hokies. Tech also claimed the doubles point as Oliveira and Hunter Koontz picked up a win in the No. 2 and Kujundzic and Antun paired up for a No. 3 win. Somen, Daciek and Antun are 2-1 on the season while Kujundzic has a 1-1 mark.

Harvard (5-1) swept Butler, 7-0 in the team’s last outing. The Crimson swept all three doubles matches before rolling through singles. Jonathan Pearlman, Denis Nguyen and Alex Steinroeder are ranked in the ITA northeast region at No. 12, No. 15 and No. 19, respectively. The doubles pair of Alistair Felton and Casey MacMaster is No. 45 in the ITA national standings and No. 2 in the region.

Boston College (1-1) went 1-1 on their opening weekend, defeating Byrant University 6-1 before falling to Cornell 7-0. The Eagles claimed all three doubles matches against Byrant before Alex Skinner, Jonathan Raude, Billy Grokenberger, Matt Wagner and Klaus Puestow secured wins in singles play.

Following the weekend’s matches, the Hokies will have 11 days off before returning to competition in their ACC home opener, hosting Maryland on Friday, Feb. 24. Match time is set for 2 p.m. at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center.
