BLACKSBURG, Va. – No. 34 Virginia Tech men’s tennis secured four singles and two doubles wins on the second day of the Larsen Bowker Invitational at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center in Blacksburg, Va.
No. 58 Luka Somen claimed a win over Middle Tennessee State’s Ben Davis in Flight A singles with scores of 6-3, 6-3.
In the B flight singles, Mauricio Antun defeated MTSU’s Christoph Lang with straight set scores of 6-2, 6-4.
Tech had two wins in the C flight singles. Corrado Degl’ Incerti Tocci downed the Blue Raiders’ Cameron Dickerson, 6-3, 6-4.
The Hokies’ Trpimir Kujundzic battled to three sets against MTSU’s Dimitri Pippos. The first set had Kujundzic picking up a 7-5 win before falling 7-5 in the second set. Kujundzic came back strong in the third set to secure the match 6-3 win.
Virginia Tech won two of the three doubles matches. Lucas Oliveira and Hunter Koontz paired up in the A flight for a win over Marlon Brand and Dickerson, 8-6.
In the B flight doubles, Kujundzic and Antun defeated Ettore Zito and Matthew Langley of MTSU, 9-8.
The final day of the Larsen Bowker Inivite will begin at 9 a.m. on Sunday. Tech will take the court at 2 p.m.
