Lovrinovic wins singles draw at Crimson Tide Fall Championships
Freshman Marko Lovrinovic claimed the Stabler draw title on Sunday

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Virginia Tech men’s tennis player Marko Lovrinovic picked up a win in the finals of the Stabler draw on Sunday at the Crimson Tide Fall Championships to claim the flight title in Tuscaloosa, Ala.

Lovrinovic defeated South Alabama’s Cody Hall in straight sets with scores of 6-3, 6-0.

The Hokies also picked up two wins in the finals of the consolation singles on Sunday. In the Stallings draw, Trpimir Kujundzic secured a 7-6(4), 6-3 decision over Fernando Costa of Samford.

Tech’s Zachary Pine battled host team Alabama’s Rens van der Vis in the Stabler draw consolation. Pine fell behind in the match as van der Vis took the first set, 6-4. The Hokie player responded with a 6-3 win in the second set. Pine held on for an 11-9 win in the final set.

The Hokies conclude the fall season and will begin spring play on Jan. 20-22, 2012, hosting the Larsen Bowker Invitational.
