CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia Tech men’s tennis team wrapped up the ITA Atlantic Regionals on Monday in Charlottesville, Va.
No. 25 ranked Luka Somen opened with a singles win over No. 65 Julen Uriguen of Virginia with scores of 6-4, 6-2. Somen fell in the semifinals to UVA’s top-seeded No. 18 Jarmere Jenkins, 6-2, 6-3.
In doubles, Somen paired up with Corrado Degl’ Incert Tocci in the semifinals. The No. 27 ranked Tech pair fell to UVA’s Drew Courtney and Uriguen, 7-5, 6-4. Courtney is ranked No. 12 in the preseason standings with teammate Steven Rooda while Uriguen is No. 52 with Jenkins.
The Hokies will be back on the court Oct. 28-30 at the Crimson Tide Invitational in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
