Men's Tennis to compete at UVa Fall Classic
The Hokies will send four to compete in Charlottesville over the weekend.

BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Virginia Tech men’s tennis team will have four members competing Oct. 14-16 at the UVa Fall Classic in Charlottesville, Va. Competition begins at 9 a.m. on Friday and Saturday and 10 a.m. on Sunday.

The event, hosted by the University of Virginia, will feature 15 schools. In addition to the Hokies and the Cavaliers, competing over the weekend will be East Tennessee State, Eastern Kentucky, George Washington, James Madison, Liberty, Maryland, Morgan State, Norfolk State, Old Dominion, Penn State, Radford, VCU and William & Mary. Six of the teams in the field appeared in the final ITA rankings last season.

On the court for the Hokies wil be Jonathan Pine, Zachary Pine, Trpimir Kujundzic and Marko Lovrinovic.

Jon Pine will face William & Mary’s Charlie Ghiriskey in the blue singles opening round while Zach Pine will square off against Brian Welnetz of Penn State in the orange singles. In the white singles, Lovrinovic will play ETSU’s Rogerio Ribeiro and Trpimir Kujundzic faces Maryland’s David Nguyen in the black singles.

In doubles competition, the Pine brothers will play in the orange draw against Roger Ordeig and Jeremy Bonnevalle of ETSU in the opening round. Lovrinovic and Kujundzic will pair up in the white draw against William & Mary’s Ben Hoogland and John Banks.

Friday’s schedule will feature two rounds of doubles and one round of singles. The doubles finals will be played on Saturday along with two rounds of singles. Singles will wrap up on Sunday with the finals.
