TULSA, Okla. – Luka Somen and Corrado Degl’ Incerti Tocci claimed a doubles win on Thursday at the ITA Men's Tennis All-American Championships to advance to the second round in Tulsa, Okla.
The No. 27 ranked Tech duo defeated Pepperdine’s No. 11 ranked pair of Sebastian Fanselow and Jenson Turner with a score of 8-6 in the main draw.
Somen and Tocci will face Texas Tech’s Gonzalo Escobar and Vitor Manzini on Friday in the quarterfinals. The Red Raiders’ pair is ranked No. 10 in the ITA preseason standings.
In singles No. 25 Somen fell in the opening round of the main draw singles to No. 24 Sadio Doumbia of Georgia in a close two set match with scores of 7-6, 7-5. Somen moved on to the consolation bracket, but fell to No. 3 Eric Quigley from Kentucky, 6-2, 6-2.
Friday’s schedule will begin with singles at 9 a.m. followed by doubles in the afternoon.
