ATHENS, Ga. – The Virginia Tech men’s tennis team finished the 44th Southern Intercollegiate Championships on Sunday in Athens, Ga.
Trpimir Kujundzic secured a win over Mississippi State’s Trey Seymour in the Division II singles consolation bracket. The Tech player defeated Seymour in straight sets with scores of 6-2, 6-0.
Also in the consolation bracket of the Division II singles bracket, Zachary Pine squared off against Winthrop’s Dylan Comerford in a hard-fought three set match. Pine claimed the first set, 6-2, but Comerford came back for a 6-5 win in the second set. The Winthrop player held on to take the match with a 10-0 score in the tiebreaker.
Next up for the Hokies is the ITA All-American Championships, Oct. 3-9 in Tulsa, Okla.
