Somen eliminated at NCAA Championships
Tech player concludes outstanding season

STANFORD, Calif. - Virginia Tech’s Luka Somen was eliminated Thursday afternoon in the Round of 32 at the NCAA Division I Men’s Tennis Singles Championships. The event is being held at the Taube Tennis Center on the Stanford University campus.

Somen (Jr., Karlovac, Croatia), ranked No. 59 nationally and an All-ACC selection, lost, 6-1, 6-1, to eighth-ranked and No. 8 seed Henrique Cunha (Duke). Cunha, a 2010 national semifinalist, had defeated Somen, 6-4, 6-3, during the regular season.

Somen concludes the year with a 22-15 singles record including wins over two top-30 ranked players.
