BLACKSBURG, Va. -- The Virginia Tech men’s tennis team overcame a tough loss in doubles to pick up a 4-3 win Sunday afternoon over Brown at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis on the Virginia Tech campus. The Hokies improved to 9-4, while the Bears fell to 7-2 on the year.

Tech dropped two of the three doubles matches to lose the first point of the day, but bounced back to win four of the six singles matches in the victory.

After dropping the doubles point, Tech quickly took the lead as Trpimir Kujundzic (So., Zagreb, Croatia) easily took the No. 6 match, 6-2, 6-1, over Charlie Posner and Pedro Graber (r-Sr., Santiago, Chile) won, 6-3, 6-0, at No. 2. Will Beck (Sr., Potomac, Md.) gave Tech a 3-1 advantage with his 6-1, 7-6 (3), win at No. 4 over Timothy Klanke. Luka Somen, ranked No. 39 nationally, cliched the win at No. 1 with a 6-3, 6-3, decision against Mike Hill.

Brown picked up its final two points of the match as Francesc Aulina Fajula (Fr., Barcelona, Spain) dropped a tough, 6-4, 2-6, 7-5, No. 5 contest versus Soufiane Azargui and Corrado Degl’ Incerti Tocci (Jr., Reggio Emilia, Italy) fell, 1-6, 7-6 (4), 6-4, at No. 3 against Kendrick Au.

In doubles action, Somen/Tocci took the No. 2 match, 8-5, over Hill/Posner, but Brown evened the competition as Beck/Graber fell, 8-6, at No. 1 to Azargui/Brandon Burke. The Bears won the point at No. 3 as Kujundzic/Lucas Oliviera (So., Sao Paulo, Brazil) lost, 9-8 (3), against Au/Fife.

Tech returns to action next Fri., Mar. 4, when the Hokies play host to No. 15 Louisville at 2:30 p.m.
