BLACKSBURG, Va. -- The Virginia Tech men’s tennis team, fresh off a double-header sweep last weekend, will travel to Durham, N.C. to participate in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s Kick-off Weekend. The Hokies will play No. 21 Pepperdine at 2 p.m., Friday at the Sheffield Tennis Center.
Virginia Tech (2-0), ranked No. 25 in this week’s ITA national poll, defeated Eastern Kentucky and Longwood by identical 7-0 scores.
Pepperdine (2-0) defeated No. 66 UC Santa Barbara, 7-0, and No. 55 UC Irvine, 5-2, last week to open the season.
The other first round match will feature No. 14 Duke (3-0) taking on No. 24 Michigan (1-1) at 10 a.m. The winners will advance to Saturday’s second round match at 6 p.m., with the loser’s participating in the consolation match at 2 p.m.
The event features 60 teams playing in 15 regionals across the nation that will battle for the right to advance to the ITA National Team Indoor Championships on Feb. 18-20 in Seattle, Wash.
