Beck, Daciek drop matches at ITA All-American Championships
Degl' Incerti Tocci, Somen to see action in Monday qualifying

TULSA, Okla. - The results were not good for two members of the Virginia Tech men’s tennis team in the pre-qualfying round of the 2010 D’Novo/ITA Men’s Tennis All-American Championships. The University of Tulsa is hosting the tournament for the fourth-straight year and for the sixth year overall at the Case Tennis Center on the TU campus.

The nation’s top male collegiate tennis players are slated to compete in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s (ITA) first national event of the 2010-11 season. The tournament will include six rounds of pre qualifying and qualifying matches beginning October 2 for both singles and doubles.

Tech’s Will Beck and Patrick Daciek dropped their contests on Saturday in the pre-qualifying rounds. Beck lost, 4-6, 6-3, 7-5, to Bryan Griffin (SMU) in a morning match. Daciek received a first round bye and then dropped a, 6-2, 6-3 decision to Vitor Manzini (Texas Tech).

Also participating in the event are Luka Somen, ranked No. 52 nationally, and Corrado Degl’ Incerti Tocci who each will see their first action on Monday, Oct. 4 in the three-day qualifying rounds. Beck/Daciek and Degl’ Incerti Tocci/Somen will participate in the qualifying doubles rounds starting on Oct. 5 and will need to win three matches to advance into the main draw.
