DURHAM, N.C. – Two Virginia Tech players won consolation matches Sunday on the final day of the Fab Four Invite hosted by Duke University at the Cary Tennis Park in Cary, N.C. The event included 11 schools being represented in the men’s draw.
The host Blue Devils were joined in the tournament by players from East Tennessee State, Indiana, Louisville, North Carolina, North Carolina Central, North Carolina State, Radford, South Carolina, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest.
In singles, Lucas Oliveira (So., Sao Paulo, Brazil) won the Section A consolation third place match, 6-1, 6-4, over Jack Waissen (N.C. Central) and Pedro Graber (r-Sr., Santiago, Chile) won his Section C fifth place contest with a, 7-6 (5), 6-1, victory against Cameron Ahari (North Carolina).
Will Beck (Sr., Potomac, Md.) dropped his Section B fifth place match, 7-6 (4), 7-5, versus Jesus Bandres (ETSU).
The Hokies return to action next weekend as several players will participate in the UVa Ranked Plus One event in Charlottesville, Va.
